I got the idea for this kind of thing from Greg, who used to do (maybe still does) this whole “I hate everything” post on his blog. It really got me thinking… Partly about how I used to like having a blog, but mostly about how I hate everything too. It also got me thinking why I hate everything. Is it because I am too picky and find fault in every person, place, and thing that I encounter? Or is it the fact that I am ultimately unhappy with myself and have to hate everything else to draw attention away from my own faults? After thinking of that for a while I realized that I do not care either way, especially since I won’t stop hating everything anytime in the near future. I have always been attracted to philosophy partially because it is the root of our education system and because it helps explain the unexplainable, but mostly because it is without rules. There are no guidelines in philosophy, and the only limitation is what you can conceive. It is not like other academic schools where one’s reputation and status are built on the amount of time he or she has put into a project, but rather how thoughtful the final project is. Philosophy’s laboratory is in the mind, and we owe more to this practice than any other in existence. Sadly, western thought is beginning to rapidly diminish both in popularity and substance. Even the word “philosophy” is now synonymous with uselessness in academia, and most people imagine a slacking, pot head college student when considering the subject. The less thoughtful group of people are quick to denounce the ancient art of philosophy as a irrelevant subject in today’s world and the fact that this group is growing exponentially is becoming apparent in modern course structure, book stores, and cognition. I am an avid movie fan in the way that cats are avid people fans. They don’t have any particularly awesome use, but they provide relative entertainment between my sessions of eating and pooping. Also like cats, I prone to unwarranted agitation, and can be very picky about my movie and the experience surrounding it. Recently I have noticed that movies are starting to seriously suck ass. In fact, the only thing that sucks more than the movies now adays is the movie theater experience that goes along with it.
